Stewardship Celebration –The 3 R’s
Remember, Rejoice, and Respond
What is stewardship? Stewardship is the money we give, the time we share, and the skills we use in our church and our daily lives. It is also the sharing of what we have to thank God for acting in our lives. Stewardship calls us to give back to God, by offering our time and talent, and by making a financial commitment to the church.
When is the stewardship drive? The month of October.
Where? Saint Matthews Episcopal Church.
Why? To remember and rejoice in the blessings we have been given; to respond by giving our time, talent and treasure; and to assist the church in preparing a budget and planning ministries for the upcoming year.
This Stewardship drive is a time to remember, rejoice, and to respond! This is a time of celebration for all of the gifts God has given us and to share them with others. We at St. Matthews invite you to become a pledging member of our wonderful church! The Episcopal Church invites every baptized member to “strive to tithe” - that is, to offer 10 percent of one's income to the work of God in the church and the world. Please discern a level of giving that reflects your joy and gratitude.
No, it is not time for the stewardship drive, but we did want to take a moment to thank all of you for your generous gifts of time, talent, and treasure! They are truly appreciated! We also have some exciting news! We at St. Matthews have been awarded a grant to purchase a portable labyrinth. We will be able to use this in the parish hall and it can be stored away when not in use. We can also transport it for use in the community. We will keep you posted on upcoming labyrinth events!
The vestry is planning to visit everyone we can to just talk about St. Matthew’s for a short while. Teams of two vestry members will work together to visit 10-15 homes. We will make an appointment and just talk about what is happening in our church. We will all get to know each other better. We will have a canned list of some happenings to talk about. Be sure to have your questions and/or comments about St Matthew’s ready. If we can’t answer them, we’ll find someone who can.
Each visit will be about 15 minutes. We hope to finish this task in the month of August. So listen for your phone and we’ll make a date. Kitty Rolfe
